Cité du Temps

Cité du Temps is multifunctional building maintained by city municipality, Quartier Libre SIG, tourist information space, coffee and restaurant, art gallery and Swatch exhibition.

Location

Located on the bridge Pont de la Machine, in the middle of Rhône river, in the very center of Geneva.

Exhibitions

Cité du Temps is hosting permanent Swatch exhibition, like a small museum of hundreds of Swatch watches, as well as ongoing temporary art exhibitions, changing every month.

Café and Restaurant

Visitors can have a coffee or drinks, as well as meals in Restaurant Au Phil du Temps. Restaurant is offering starters, main meals and desserts is in serving Monday to Friday from 12-2pm and is being very popular - reservation might be advised. Café is open all day long from 9am-6pm, serving table waters, coca-cola, tonic, red bull, fruit juices, coffee, cappucino and hot chocolate.

 

The Pont de la Machine - history

Look on Old Water Power Station from building of The Pont de la Machine The Pont de la Machine is the name of the bridge on which is building of the same name. The building was build in 1840 as a pumping station, to pump water for a new public fountains. Later it was rebuilded into Geneva's first water power station and was used to regulate the level of the river Rhône.

Since 1995 the Seujet dam is holding this function and The Pont de la Machine building is used for completely different purposes: see above.
