Ariana Museum

Ariana Museum is grandious architectural masterpiece and beautiful museum of ceramics and glass arts, constructed at the end of 19th century, bequeathed to the Geneva by its founder Gustave Revilliod.

Collection
The Ariana museum hosts a huge collection of ceramics vases, plates, little table decorative statues, cups, but also paintings and information tables showing how the ceramics is being made - from the excavation of clay all the way throught the modeling of the object, firing to the painting on the ceramics.
It is rewarding to visit the museum even You are not particularly ceramics and glass lover, as it is mostly about the artistic portrayal of daily objects. Ceramics is in the way the practical art.
There is also one beautiful historical golden-red styled room with several paintings on the walls.

Architecture
Museum Ariana is already worth visit for its beautiful architecture, huge pillars underpinning large arched ceiling and gleaming marble floors. The interior is simply luxorious and breathtaking.

Location
Located close to United Nations, Place des Nations and Red Cross Museum in a spacious beautiful park with a simple fountain.

Ariana Museum consists of 3 floors:
Undrerground floor - Temporary exhibition, currently hosting the exposition Terres d'Islam - about ceramics, paintings and arts related to Islam sphere.
Free toilets, lockers (1CHF coin deposit required) and racks.
Ground floor - Reception, informations and permanent exhibition. Paintings on the ceiling of side passages are not to be missed!
First floor - Permanent exhibition and another temporary exhibition regarding Contemporary Art. There is also a library and small café bar.

Description
Description at every piece of showpiece in only in French language. It is possible to get an english flyer at the reception that will familiarize You with the museum.

Library
Open Tuesday - Friday: 2pm - 5pm and by an appointement.

Café bar
Simple café bar located on the first floor serves visitors tea, café, simple snacks, cakes and candy bars. There are several tables to sit by and it is smart to book them, as thy might be either full or reserved already. Enjoying Your café which such a beautiful arts and views surrounding You, You will feel like a king in his palace.

There are free toilets, free wifi, museum is wheelchair accessible. Lockers are for free, You only need 1CHF coin for a deposit. Telephone automat. Elevator and staircase.
