Trip from Geneva to Verbier

Verbier is a top-end skiing resort in Switzerland, next to Zermatt the very best of what Swiss Alps has to offer. Many other sports, such as mountain biking, hiking, horse riding and tennis are available. Verbier is also popular for its lively and vivid nightlife.

In Verbier You will get away with English better then with French. Englishmen fly here for a weekend from London to ski.

Verbier is becoming expensive for natives to live here, so they are moving to surrounding towns and villages and rent their houses to the tourists coming here. As Verbier is mountain ski resort, it gets most cowded in high winter season, when population jumps from 8000 up to 30 000 people.

Travel to Verbier
Take a flight from London or any other city to Geneva Airport. From Airport, take ashort one stop train to Gare Cornavin - Geneva main train station. The train with a change in Martigny will get You to Le Châble. From Le Châble there is no train going up, but You can take a cable car or local bus.

Nightclubs
Verbier bars are famous for serving 100CHF cocktail with golden flakes in it and yes, the prices here are nothing but expensive, even for some Swiss people. The biggest party takes place here on the New Year's Eve - big celebrations on central Sq.
Pub Mt-Fork - named after a 3,329m glacier, this is a place where cool casual people meet for a great evenings and sometimes crazy parties. You will meet ski instructors, locals or mountain guides and they are all friendly.

Sports
Mountainbike trip around Mt Fort takes ~100km, but You can make it easier by taking few lifts on the way. The lifts will also help You to avoid glacier which is crossing the way.
Special biking trail for downhill cycling.
Race - Kilometer Vertical

Golf - 9 holes golf course - it is in the mountains, so the terrain is not flat, sometimes getting steep. For this reason players take only 3-4 clubs with them to not get tired walking up and down with the whole weight.

Horse racing cup in a summer is very prestigeous and popular horse racing (steeplechasing) competition.

Bruson
As an alternative, from Le Châble You can take a train to another ski resort, Bruson - it is much less crowded and little cheaper. The ski trails are very interesting. It's mountains landscape wasn't changed as much as in Verbier and so slopes are more natural and wild. The lifts are only a little slower here.
